Hernandez is the co-creator of the well-loved indie read Love and Rockets, a comic he has sustained with his brothers Gilbert and Mario since 1982. In addition to Love and Rockets, he is also known for occasionally lending his talent to DC Comics, The New Yorker, and album art like Los Lobos’ 2006 release The Town and the City.
Hernandez has amassed several awards for his artistic and storytelling skills (most recently an Eisner Award for his work on Love and Rockets)—a testament to how well-respected this prolific artist is within the comics community. The New York Times Book Review praised Hernandez as being “One of the most talented artists our polyglot culture has produced.”
Meet Hernandez and many other artists at the 2015 installment of Appleseed Comic Con on May 16 and 17! Look for more announcements as the excitement build, and if you’re interested in being part of the comic con as an artist, visit www.appleseedcon.com for registration details.

One of the things that I think is important to do for any show is to look over the guest list and pre-order commissions from the creators that I want to get sketches from. So, at Appleseed, we try to facilitate that process by setting up a page with the names and contact information of creators who are currently taking commission orders. You check out a current list of these creators here: Art Pre-orders
I think it’s important to make these pre-orders because it allows fans to to better budget their time and money, allowing them to visit with even more creators. It’s also really helpful to creators because it allows them to better budget their time and allows them more time to do sketches for even more fans. It’s a huge win/win.
So, if you’re the art collecting type, I really strongly suggest this option. All of the details are on the link above.
See you in May!
